You can just choose one of the extensions available on the Qlik Sense Branch portal, write one yourself, or just ask a front-end developer friend to do it. But you can also use the solution offered by Vizlib – a ready-to-use library that extends the range of possibilities of Qlik Sense.
Vizlib was founded in 2016, but in this short time has gathered a large group of users who make use of extensions from Vizlib in their Qlik Sense applications. As a result, in April 2018 the company became one of Qlik’s official technological partners.
What Vizlib offers
The library offers a number of objects that extend the analytical capabilities of Qlik Sense. It provides objects that are missing in the standard version of Qlik Sense, but also those which have a limited scope of operation, which can now be extended thanks to the Vizlib library. Certain objects from the library allow users to apply functions that are available in QlikView, but which are missing in Qlik Sense. One of the most characteristic examples is the functionality called “Alternate State”, which is not available in the standard version of Qlik Sense, but well-known to QlikView users.

As you can see, the choice is large and the range of possibilities is very wide. Even the charts available by default in Qlik Sense look much more impressive in the extended version from the Vizlib library and have additional features that provide a very good visual and functional effect. Each extension can be downloaded separately, but you can also install the entire library as a single package. On the producer’s website (https://www.vizlib.com/#library) you can find sample visualizations for each of the objects in the library and full documentation.
External extensions in the production environment – is it safe?
The answer to this question is simple – yes, it is safe. In addition to being an official technology partner of Qlik, most Vizlib extensions are also authorized by Qlik via its Trusted Extension Developer certificate.
This means that Qlik takes full responsibility for these extensions to the same extent as the extensions provided in the standard version of Qlik Sense.
